Conkers

21/10/2020

Congratulations to Jacob Day who won the biggest conker competition and Ross Ring who won the smallest. Our conker championships are at the semi-final stages at the moment with finals to be played by Friday. If there is a conker to spare why not plant it up in a pot with your child, put it somewhere warm and wait for it to germinate. Next spring you will have your own chestnut tree to plant out!

Reading Month

21/10/2020

November is Reading Month: As usual during November we will be placing a special emphasis on reading. Details of all our activities including our Book Fair which takes place from 18th -25th November, will be issued to parents during the first week after midterm.

Halloween Events

21/10/2020

Pumpkin Patch: Laois Pumpkin Patch / Clonad GAA have very kindly donated a pumpkin for every child in the school. These are special pumpkins having been grown locally by the Sheeran family in Morette. This Thursday, which looks like the only fine day this week, all the children will be given the chance to select a pumpkin and bring it home. Infant parents are invited to take their child to the school field when collecting at 1.30 or 1.40 on Thursday and choose a pumpkin together (weather permitting). All the other classes will select a pumpkin in the afternoon and bring it home with them. There is no cost, however we will leave a bucket at the gate and if families wish to make a donation to Laois Pumpkin Patch they can drop a euro or two in the bucket. Again our thanks to Laois Pumpkin Patch / Clonad GAA. Remember to take a photo of your carved pumpkin and send it into the school after Hallowe'en!

Crazy Hair/Sock Day:
This Friday, for a bit of Hallowe'en fun, children are invited to do something different with their hair. Temporary hair colouring, gel, braids etc are welcome the only condition is that hair should be back to normal for school re-opening on Monday 2nd November so no designs cut in please. Some classes are also wearing crazy socks for the day. Children are welcome to participate if they wish.

Hallowe'en Costumes:
Don't forget that while we are not doing our fancy dress this Hallowe'en please do send us in photos of the children dressed up in their costumes. We hope to put up a photo board after Hallowe'en and will upload the photos on the website.
