Our Beliefs & Values

During the 2018/'19 school year our school worked with The Alliance for Catholic Education, Notre Dame University and the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin on a Catholic Schools Initiative to examine & establish what our school's core beliefs and values are. As a result of this valuable work the following beliefs and values now underpin our school community.

Our Beliefs are:
  • We are all loved and cared for.
In our school we believe that every person deserves to be loved and cared for. This begins for most of us with our parents and families and gradually extends as our world expands through friendships, school and our belief in God. We believe that all families are special and seek to assist them in ensuring that all children experience love and care from a significant adult in their lives.

  • Together We Learn
In our school we believe that we are all teachers and   learners. We believe that everyday we are all given   opportunities to grow and learn and that our   greatest   learning often comes from our greatest   challenges. We   believe that when we work together   it is possible to   overcome any obstacle.

  • Kindness is a gift to be shared.
We believe that kindness is key to fulfilment in life.   It is a gift to both those who receive and give it, free   to share and priceless to receive. It  is an   unforgettable experience with the potential to   strengthen our relationships, enrich our community   and transform our world. We believe that kindness   is love made visible.

  • We are special, we are talented, we are thankful.
We believe that each of us in our school is special   and talented. It is important we appreciate the life   and gifts we have been   given. We rejoice in our   uniqueness and special abilities which are on   display throughout the school in the work we do,   how we care for each   other and how thankful we   are to share in and be part of our wonderful   school community.
  • The goodness of God is in all people.
Life which we have all received is an incredible gift, one which can take us on a wondrous journey full of unlimited opportunities. To embrace it and nourish our potential we need the love and support of our families and community. We believe that this love forms us into who we are and guides us on the paths of life. It is the goodness of God which exists in us all.

Our Values are:
  • Nurture
We commit to this action as we believe in the importance of being loved and cared for as expressed in our first root belief. For love and care to flourish it must be nurtured and never taken for granted.
  • Persist
We commit to this value as we believe that all learning requires effort. No person can achieve their potential without the willingness to fail and try again. The ability to persist is therefore key to our growth.
  • Consider
We commit to this value as we believe that all our life experiences are different, we can only appreciate others when we have walked in their shoes. Once we consider others experience it allows us to be a little bit kinder in our actions.
  • Rejoice
We commit to this value as we believe that every person is unique, gifted and blessed. It is important for us all to recognise and celebrate the life and talents we have been given.
  • Respect
We commit to this value as we believe that we are all made in the image and likeness of God. Every person we encounter on our daily journey, therefore deserves to be treated respectfully.
