Congratulations to the mixed team who won the All Ireland Spikeball Finals on Tuesday in Limerick
School closes at 12.30 on Wednesday 16th for the Easter Break. School will re-open on Monday 4th April.
To commemorate the 1916 rising we have a number of events organised in the school.
From Friday we will have a 1916 Quiz trail. 20 Questions for 5th/6th class. 15 questions for 3rd/4th Class and 12 questions for 1st/2nd class. Each class will have half an hour for the Quiz trail. The corridors are decorated with pictures, trivia and information on the 1916 rising On Tuesday 15th March the school will assemble in the hall at 11.30am and read the Irish Proclamation. 4th/5th and 6th class will read a 2016 Proclamation. At 12 noon we will have a Flag Raising Ceremony. The school will release 16 balloons, green white and gold, to represent the 16 leaders that were executed after the 1916 rising. At 2pm a Tree Planting Ceremony will begin. 1st class will plant a Rowan or Mountain Ash. All children will assemble in the hall to sing the Irish National Anthem. An art competition will take place for all classes. Students are busy decorating the hall with 1916 banners. Well done to the boys in the FAI 5 a side who won on Wednesday. They will go on to represent Laois in the midland regionals on 13th April. We wish them the best of luck
The annual Draughts Championship has begun again this week. This is for 1st-6th Class
Golf Ireland will visit the school on Monday 14th March to promote Golf. This will be a 2 hour workshop for 5th and 6th class.
Chess takes place every Wednesday from 1.00-1.30pm every Monday for 3rd Class upwards.
There will be a GAA Blitz on Wednesday 10th March in the Heath GAA from 10.00-12.30pm for 3rd and 4th Class
Thursday 3rd March is World Book Day, and to celebrate each class will take part in a special DEAR Time at 12 O' Clock.
